The Wedding Planner
After waiting for what has felt like a lifetime to get married, Tom and I were finally lucky enough to go ahead with our wedding last Summer. Like many others our wedding was postponed due to COVID19. We got engaged on 17th April 2019 and finally got married almost 3 years and 4 date changes later on 6th July 2022. I thought I would share just a few tips from our wonderful day. Being a Designer and Stylist I was always going to embark on planning our wedding myself. It was hard, many tears were cried but, it was totally worth it in the end! Hopefully a few of my lessons might be able to help any of you who may be about to embark on the same amazing new venture.
5 tips I would give to The Bride & Groom….
Wedding Shoes - Don’t spend £££££ on wedding shoes. Firstly no one will see them and secondly you need something to be comfortable in all day! (That being said for those of you who are as obsessed with shoes like myself and Sarah-Jessica Parker…….I did buy a special pair of shoes which I wore for my registry wedding and the night before the big day BUT on the day I wore the most amazing wedges from Castaner which did not come off my feet all day until it was bedtime!)
Save yourself the money and only get a handful of invitations printed. It’s so lovely to have some for yourself/family etc but the sad fact is it’s a lot of money for something that gets throw away pretty quickly. We did all our’s electronically.
CAKE - This is of course like most of these tips a personal preference but this is another big spender which we didn’t do but had a few epic sharing desserts instead which went down a treat!
Getting a videographer was worth every penny! Having something to firstly watch after you’ve been through it all was so so special because I swear you forget little moments. It brings it all back and allows you to soak it all in again! And secondly being able to share it with your nearest and dearest and maybe even your children one day……you can’t put a price on that!
My final tip is for the happy couple on the actual wedding day. Your wedding day is the most wonderfully exciting and overwhelming day of your life. You are on a complete adrenaline high so it is really easy to not even see your amazing new Husband or Wife all day……Your attention is constantly required by your loved ones so my tip to you is to make sure you check in with each other every 20 mins or so. Whether that be a cheeky glance of a quick hand hold try and make sure you both enjoy the same day or you could end up both having totally different days and experiences.
